Welcome to . . .

Where I give you a look beyond the page on reading, writing, and #momlife, sometimes with an educator’s spin.

Writing Outside the Lines is my author blog. So, this is my space for sharing my insights on writing, book publishing, and a bit of everything else. (Hence, “outside” the lines.)

I wrote a picture book with my 9-year-old son, Attack of the Monster Pickles!, about confronting bedtime fears in a humourous and imaginative way. Parker has ADHD, so this is one way I’ve nurtured his creativity and interest in writing.

I’ve also used my expertise as an educator to help my reluctant reader develop a love for books. (I’ve been teaching for nearly 30 years at all grade levels—kindergarten through college.) So, expect the occasional post from me on tips for helping neurodiverse kids.

Parker and I plan to write several more books together, and I’ve got a bunch of my own up my sleeve. So stay tuned for those!

Additionally, I’m a professional writer with words all over the web, including in USA Today, Healthline, and Business Insider. You can check out my complete portfolio on Authory.

Ultimately, I’m a multi-passionate creative who has a tough time sticking to any one thing. So expect a once-a-month buffet of topics from this newsletter!
